LINDRUMStory

Seven generations. Champions of Primary Industry, Sport and Entertainment. A legacy told in full.

History & Family Legacy

LINDRUMSome families are bigger than life

The LINDRUM story is built on the remarkable achievements of men and women who overcame war, betrayal, criminal prosecution and jealousy to achieve greatness in the spheres of Primary Industry, Sport and Entertainment.

It begins with Friedrich Wilhelm Von Lindrum — winner of Australia’s First International Gold Medal for Wine in London in 1873, and Australia’s First International Brandy Judge in Paris in 1874 — and continues through a sporting dynasty that produced champions across generations, among them Frank Lindrum, Walter Lindrum and Horace Lindrum.

Over seven generations the LINDRUM family has also raised large sums for good causes — a tradition of giving that continues today.

LINDRUMHorace Lindrum

World professional snooker and Australian professional billiards champion.

During his fifty-year sporting career, Horace was continuously in the spotlight. Life wasn’t always easy — his destiny was touched by tragedy, family upheaval and controversy — yet he found a way to let his passion thrive.

Since his death in 1974, his daughter Jan has worked to correct the record and to restore Horace’s reputation as one of Australia’s most significant sporting pioneers — in print, on stage and on film.
